The QUEEN MARY'S TECHNICAL INSTITUTE was founded by Lady Marie Willingdon wife of the then Governor of Bombay Province on 16 May 1917 at Bombay. Institute was later shifted in 1922 to a better and spacious location (17.31 Acres) at Kirkee - Pune. The Institute trains disabled serving and retired soldiers of the Armed and Para Military Forces. Training is aimed to prepare them for respectable rehabilitation in befitting vocational trades. Later help is rendered to them in their rehabilitation. Currently training is being imparted in three broad areas. Management, computers and technical ITI trades. To promote vocational worth in the prevailing environment value addition trainingcomprising soft skills; functional English language and computer literacy, is imparted to all soldiers. QMTI is the only institute of its kind in our Country today.
