Honda of South Carolina Mfg., Inc. (HSC) manufactures all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and Side-by-Side (SxSs). Located in Timmonsville, SC, HSC is one of Honda's 14 major factories in North America. The Timmonsville facility is the result of Honda's commitment to build products close to its customers. Today, HSC is one of Florence County's largest employers in the Industrial/Manufacturing category. Honda of South Carolina Mfg. (HSC) is among several major automotive OEM transplants to the South. A subsidiary of Honda Motor Co. , the company manufactures about a half-dozen models of Honda All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) for the North American market as well as markets in Australia, New Zealand, and the UK. Up until 2009 HSC also manufactured personal watercrafts (PWCs); their assembly was curbed due to reduced demand. It produces ATV components (engines, fuel tanks, and differentials) for Honda's Ohio plant, as well. Honda opened the $30 million Timmonsville plant in 1998.
