Emeryville, California
The Aikido Institute has been providing classes in Aikido for adults and children since 1970. The school is a member of the Takemusu Aikido Association (TAA), with ranking approved through the Aikikai Foundation (Aikido World Headquarters) in Tokyo, Japan. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3). The Aikido Institute has a rich past and is one of the longest-standing Aikido dojos in the Bay Area. In the 70s and 80s, our dojo in Oakland, California was part of a growing Aikido scene in California, and became known for its connection to the teachings of Morihiro Saito Sensei (1928-2002), who was the Founder's personal student in the town of Iwama, Japan, for over 20 years, and who visited our dojo in Oakland on numerous occasions. In 2016 we moved to Emeryville, California and have a new state-of-the-art mat thanks to the support of all our friends in the Aikido community. We have classes 7 days a week. Visitors welcome. www.aikidoinstitute.org
