This was my first experience with buying a custom made to measure suit from a tailor and what a great experience it was! Our wedding venue was at Arley Hall so naturally we had to have a Peaky Blinders theme. John and his assistant Zoe were very charming and made (my then fiancée) and I feel very welcome. The whole process was explained over a nice cup of tea and John began building my dream 1920’s style suit by showing me a great selection of fabrics. I knew what colour I wanted and found the perfect shade of navy blue with a beautiful complimenting lining and matching waistcoat back. We constructed the rest of my suit with bespoke pockets, vents, pleats, buttons etc and of course the vital measurements in keeping with the era, but still with a timeless look. John is very knowledgeable and absolutely understood what it was I was looking for as well as what accessories I would need to pull off the Blinder look! John takes great pride in his work and both he and Zoe made the whole experience very enjoyable and interesting. The cost of a bespoke suit is obviously far greater than an off the peg‘ suit, but my god it is worth it! I felt incredible on my wedding day and cannot recommend Phillip Alexander high enough!

What a wonderful experience from start to finish! This was my first purchase of a made-to-measure suit and the choice of fabrics was exceptional. There is something very special about having a suit made this way, and seeing the suit taking shape. I always looked forward to my next visit. John promised me that the suit would be the best one I have ever had and this was absolutely the case; the quality is simply outstanding. I can only re-iterate the comments of those other reviewers who say that wearing their made-to-measure suit makes them feel a million dollars, which is certainly true. Thank you to John and the team for such fabulous attention to detail.
I was fortunate enough to be invited to meet Her Majesty The Queen at Buckingham Palace and wanted the best suit for my visit. I visited Philip Alexander and they made a high quality suit with waistcoat for my special occasion. Their service made me feel very special and confident to meet Her Majesty. Two years later I returned to buy two new suits which I now use whenever I need to look smart. I don't think I will ever return to off-the-peg suits. My recommendation: be brave, listen to their advice and you'll look fantastic!
I wear suits for business and socially and I love the ones John has made for me. John has made 3 suits for me now, with the fourth on the way as well as an overcoat. I won't go anywhere else for a suit from now on. I can feel and see the difference between John's work and other tailors I have used in the past. John has incredible attention to detail and spends time getting the garment shaped just right for my physique. The end result is that I not only look the part but I feel great wearing them. I value John's advice on how to style my clothes. He has recommended suit colours and patterns I would never have thought of myself but I'm so glad I went with John's recommendations: they turned out perfect for me, different to what I would have picked. That leaves me standing out from the crowd but in a subtle, tasteful way. John also has advised me on what colour shirts and ties to accompany the suit with - the sort of expertise I don't have but those small details make all the difference. John also arranged (secretly with my wife for a present!) for a photograph of a tapestry to be converted into a lining for a suit and overcoat for me - not only do they both look gorgeous but they are now truly unique. The Savile Row Club has made all these suits affordable for me and it is my pleasure to wear them, it really is. I get a lot of people ask me who makes my suits. Lastly, John's a great bloke and I do enjoy a glass of something with him if I manage to get the last fitting of the day!
I visited Phillip Alexander having had no luck anywhere else finding what I wanted. I was greeted warmly and taken through the whole tailoring process. The whole team were fantastic and turned every minute into an experience rather than a necessity. They couldn't have done any more to impress, the end product was impeccable and I would recommend Phillip Alexander to anyone!
