What made this trip was being with family. There were some "issues" but we were able to overlook them and have a great time.

Sailed up with my wife in a 28ft Davidson, weathered a storm for two days New Year 2016 in one of the coves further in. After the storm passed we decided we wanted a civilized meal. We called in and then they told us which of their swing moorings to take. There were already two lovely 50 footers and there was still a mooring and room for us. We then took the tender in and ate a magnificent meal from a skilled chef and the owner was very much involved in the hospitality. The owners created a great environment and some entertainment (a bit faulty towers esque, in a great way). This was in our top 5 things we did in the trip. I would sail 50 miles out of my way to come back to this place. It is extremely remote and whangaroa is stunning and has a very unique history. The Kingfish has a lovely bar and billiards area. I can’t remember for sure but I think the mooring was free for the night b/c we had dinner there and they weren’t too busy.
We have just had 3 wonderful days at this superb lodge. Jeremy, Jordi and the team are just marvellous. This is a great little "hideaway" Highly recommended
