Actually queued 3 hours to get in. But I think the wait was well worth it. The queuing is part of the experience I guess. Food is top quality. Portion is adequate. Managed to order the very limited Unagi liver and bones. Service is top notch. Good ambiance. If you drive, there are about a dozen lots out front.

The best place to eat unagi in the world! Queue was long but definitely worth your time!
It is above average but not as good as “number one in Kyoto”. I strong recommend you book in advance otherwise you will need to wait for an hour during peak hours.
2019.10 excellent unagi. Nice service. A bit expensive. But delicious. Quiet place. Reservation only. But not hurt to ask, they may not fully book
The restaurant had a great ambience but it lacked the wow factor of an eel restaurant. I was not able to see the eel being prepared which is what I like to see in an eel specialty store. Food wise, the eel skewers were good to try once and never again. It is too strong tasting for me and the veins gives it a chewiness which is not for me. The eel bowls were decently sized, and the eels were flavourful and delicious but not out of this world. If I had to queue for this, I would be disappointed. Overall, worth trying once and it is better then the unagi don chains, but it’s not life changing for me.
