This mount has a great story regarding with Prophet alayhi s-salāmand Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him). Mount Thawr (or Jabal Thawr) is the mountain that contains the cave in which the Prophet alayhi s-salām and Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) sought refuge for three days and nights from the Quraysh, as they left Makkah and emigrated to Madinah. People are used to visit this place but careful there is a way to enter this cave, most of the time local people specially guide try to force you to see this mountain and cave from very far to save the time.

It's a historic place to visit. The Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H.) hid in the cave for approximately three days from kuffar (non muslims) of Makkah while migrating to Medinah. The kuffars wanted to kill the prophet and that's why he had to hide here. ALLĀH ordered the spider to spin its web so as when the kuffars would think that the prophet is not inside this cave. And even the story of Abu Bakr and the insect is of the same place.
