Souden is a restaurant that specialises in 2 things: Temari sushi and Japanese green tea. Originating from Kyoto, Temari sushi are shaped like a ball and smaller in size than your usual sushi. These bite-sized sushi were originally created so that geishas can eat sushi without fully opening their mouths. We went for the month's special which comprise Obanzai (appetiser), tempura, 14 pieces of Temari sushi, green tea (Kabuse-cha variant) and a macaron for dessert. Overall it was quite a pleasant experience - if recommend this place if you're in Kyoto and hunting for Temari sushi, or if you're a Japanese green tea connoisseur.

So glad we found this place and make reservation, it’s only 10 minutes away from nijo-jo so it’s perfect to tour the castle and cone here for lunch. It is very pricey but super cool sushi experience, each piece of sushi is an art masterpiece. The staff speaks English and very friendly, recommend everyone to try this while you are in Tokyo
Interesting type of small round sushi. This was originally made for Geishas so they do not have to open their mouth wide to get in a full piece of traditional sushi. I feel like we were pushed into purchasing the most expensive lunch set, which had way too much food for 1 person. There was not an English menu which is why we just went with what the waitress recommended. Even my husband could not finish it. There was 14 pieces of this sushi, tempura, egg custard with salmon, pickled veggies/squid, and Japanese green tea and a small dessert. For 2 of these sets, 1 alcoholic drink, and sake we paid 9,200 yen. The sushi itself was creative, but was too fishy for me. The space is very beautiful.
Creative cuisine & traditional Japanese chadao fusion mix. And the attandants are welcoming and considerated.
Food was average, not bad. Counter seats were too crowded, not comfortable to sit.
