What a fun and quirky place! Don’t let the entrance deter you. In typical Tokyo style, this hidden gem’s entry is down a flight of stairs off the main strip. The staff are international, so whether you’re proficient or learning the basics, you’ll be taken care of. The kitchen’s happiness is infectious. Try the sake tasting board (500), and an assertion of yakitori skewers (130 - 360 each) to start. It’s neither cheap nor expensive, but it’s worth it. Stop by for dinner if you’re in Shinjuku. ごちそうさまでした

I have never been flatly ignored: I hardly ever review restaurants and I’ve been here twice before over the last year. I went to this place because I was starving and the food is consistent. I walked in and I was ignored. The seater looked ilme in my eyes and walked around me. So I sat myself. Right behind me were two Japanese Girls. He sat them immediately and took their drink order. I just waited and waited. I am made to feel less than in my own country because of color of my skin. In Europe they treat me kindly and see only American not black. This server didn’t even see me as he acted as if I did not even exist. I stayed s d waited to speak to manager. And I know nothing will happen and they don’t care as I’m just a tourist/foreign but I ask if anyone reading this (especially if you are black And/or American) go ANYWHERE else. Go where you are seen. Go where the staff treats you like a person or at least a dog, because I was treated as if I wasn’t even a living breathing thing. I hope no one ever makes any of those employees feel like they made me feel, because no one deserves such treatment.

Pretty good, predictable Japanese fare which hits the spot if that's what you're after.
