I’ve been so proud to be a part of this congregation, a diverse sanctuary for multiple beliefs under the spiritual direction of Rabbi Neil. Music guides the services and justice for all peoples shines a light into the hearts of Judaism practiced here. If that sounds interesting to you, you’ll feel at home. If putting up walls and shutting people out sounds like a good idea to you, please join us and open your heart to the new. As Jews, we welcome the Stranger.

This place is a wonderful school. We have been there 2 years and only one teacher has left. We have not seen a high turn over as the others have posted. Our kids love it there.

Beth Shir Shalom (“the home of the song of peace”), led by Rabbi Neil Comess-Daniel, is a small synagogue with a warm and welcoming congregation in the heart of Santa Monica. The services are very musical with a wonderful mix of traditional and original tunes. The congregation and rabbi are committed to social justice and interfaith dialogue. The high holy day services at Barnum Hall are a not-to-be-missed experience featuring many terrific musicians. The Rabbi’s sermons are always topical and inspiring. After enjoying the rich services at Beth Shir Shalom with my Jewish wife and children for over 15 years, and watching my son and daughter become B’nai Mitzvah, I was inspired to become a Jew-by-choice under Rabbi Neil’s guidance a couple of years ago.
