In the absence of being able to eat in we had our second take away last night and it was the best so far. Each course was beautifully presented with simple instructions and whilst the vichyssoise, pasta, scallops and trifle were excellent the star was a perfect Beef Wellington...Michelin Star dining at home...priceless (and the wine was excellent and did not cost restaurant prices)

I chose 7 course meal and my husband had 10 course meal. Food displayed beautifully, both atmosphere and service was good. However the taste of food didn’t live up with my expectations. Most of dishes are on the salty side. Too much salt just kills all the flavors. The duck confit isn’t my cup of tea, can’t even finish it.

The setting, a country house on the outskirts of Reading, is beautiful with plenty of parking on site. We went in August, with extra restrictions in place due to Covid. Therefore we were unable to have an aperitif outside, which was a pity. We received a warm welcome and the staff provided a good service. The food was excellent and the menu offered plenty of enticing options. We had the seven course menu which was well put together and very satisfying. The sommelier was friendly and knowledgeable and offered some excellent accompanying wines. The ambiance and theatre that one expects of fine dining were both clearly impacted by Covid (distancing/limited tables/ staff wearing masks etc) but what they provided was a safe environment to enjoy some excellent food. I think ambiance could be improved nonetheless. I would go back again for all the positives; it was a very pleasant experience overall, despite the restrictions they are facing.
