Stopped in for a night on our Source to Sea paddle. Vickie was very welcoming and kind! Beautiful campground with nice guests and a gorgeous sunset across the Mississippi River!

It depends on what you’re looking for. The camp is on the Missippi River with plenty of fishing and beautiful sunsets. There’s no swimming in the river so you’re going to have a hard time beating the heat on the hottest days of summer unless you’re in an air conditioned RV or have a very good fan. There are many RVs and campers, many of which appear to live at the campgrounds. The areas for tent camping are either close to the water with minimal shade or a bit further back with ample shade. There is one bathroom and shower house for the whole camp but it was surprisingly not so crowded; possibly due to so many people having RV’s. The staff are super nice and very helpful, though there are no refunds if you don’t stay the length of your reservation. There are no good trails within the campground, though there is a forest preserve not too far down the road. They serve breakfast in the mornings for a fair price. If you are tent camping and looking for some peace and quiet, this is not the spot for you as the camp ground is right next to the train tracks and the train goes by blaring its horn throughout the day and a few times at night; the busy road can be heard as it’s right next to the campgrounds, there are loud barges traveling on the river, and the there was a surplus of generators running all night long making it difficult to get a restful sleep. If you have a boat, RV, and like community, you might enjoy this place.
