Fabulous day out with your guide John Murphy ( find him on Facebook) He led a party of about 50 adults children and dogs across the sands at low tide pointing out history and flora on the way. It takes about an hour to cross then you get an hour to rest and picnic or visit the pub if open . Then John takes you on a tour of the ruined castle before leading you back safely to the carpark on Walney. Great for children too. Expensive? No he only charges 5 !

Absolute Gem. Came across this by accident. Small boat crossing for 5 per person return. Gorgeous little island with 4 houses , a castle ruin and a pub/ b&b and a public toilet cubicle. Sat watching seals while we had our lunch. Had the island to ourselves. Beautiful little oasis. Deffinately worth a visit.
Lived in the area all my life and it was the first time if ever been to Piel. What a great afternoon. Had a wander around the castle and a drink at the pub on a very rare sunny afternoon. Really enjoyable and will definitely do it again.
Really nice island didn't want to leave
Very nice day out. Nice food and drink at the pub. You can also camp on the island and make a night of it. Also the pub takes card payment (just to clear that up).
