A lovely, spiritual place, with lots of different walk possibilities around the area - whatever the time of year .

So quiet and peaceful, not another person in sight, dogs loved it too. Steep and slippery in places but worth the effort.

One of our favourite places. The most beautiful walk! The views are magnificant and is a huge hit with our dogs and 7 year old who has been doing this walk since she was about 3. Our 16 month old seems pretty impressed too although she's still confined to the hiking carrier! We always begin in the forest which in itself is magical: the sounds of the birds tweeting and trees rustling always brings a sense of calm and whether we choose to use the steep path or even steeper path- the lovely forest sounds really does make it more bareable! Once at the top and out of the forest there is a short walk through lovely moorland until you get to the incredible Bridestones! The stones themselves are enough to make your jaw drop but coupled with the stunning views across the valley it truly is a remarkable place to visit. After passing 4 or 5 rock formations you will walk down a steep path, cross a stream and walk back up again to more rock formations and even a couple of caves which are a wonderful place to have a picnic and sit and enjoy the views. The kids love them! The final descent is a very steep one which takes you through a gate, over a bridge and into a lush green meadow with a stream running through. Whether you love caves, rocks, forests, streams or meadows.. there's something there for you with added doses of breathtaking views.

Went here for a test, but going through thornton-le-dale is a very nice village.
