Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, great tasting food. I docked a star because while the food is delicious, it won't fill me up when my appetite is enhanced. Prices are fine, you'll get good quality food for what you're going to pay.

I'd heard great things about Abyssinia, and I love Ethiopian food, so I was excited to try it when I moved to Phoenix. I was really surprised by the lack of flavor. I've been to probably 20 different Ethiopian restaurants around the world -- admittedly none in Ethiopia -- and this was the most bland. Whatever they're doing is clearly working since people love their food and they're getting great reviews, but if you're looking for a more flavorful Ethiopian dining experience, I'd recommend Authentic Ethio African Spices or First Cup.

Lovely spot! Don't come if you're looking for a quick dinner. This is definitely intended for an experience to spend with family or friends. Food is slow to serve, but you can tell all the food is made fresh and made sizzling coming out. Very delicious and large servings. We got the 40 platter and two other entree items split between 7 people. Overall with tip, we spent approx. 24 per person. They also have the back room that is intended for the ethiopian coffee experience. Lovely and the staff is clearly very happy to share their culture.

I absolutely enjoyed my experience at Abyssinia. The food was great and the young lady that helped me Oder my food to go was very helpful. Being that the dining room was closed due to covid, I ordered take out. The decor of the restaurant is very beautiful and has a lot of Ethiopian memorabilia that make you feel like you’re in Ethiopia. I forgot the young lady that helped me but I would like to say thank you so much and I look forward to seeing you again.

Ethiopian food has a wonderful ability to be so simple while feeling very satisfying and wholesome. Despite it’s simplicity, Abyssinia goes the extra mile in provided a superb dining experience. The atmosphere is very relaxing and feels like a traditional Ethiopian setting that provides a feeling that is a lot more homey that makes you almost forget that you’re at a business establishment intended to make a profit. If you haven’t had Ethiopian food before, this places offers a great introduction to it with a variety of wonderful options without any unreasonable obstructions from your comfort zone
