This place is so thought provoking it can't be missed. It really hammers home the atrocities of war. To find a village kept in this way is better than reading any book but be warned - it will make you feel very emotional!

A strikingly sad memorial to the insanity of war. Men, women and children killed by the SS towards the end of the war in a senseless massacre. It is impossible not to be moved by the emptiness and desolation of the preserved village. Recommended for all to visit so that the numbers killed do no remain just as statistics on a page, but are remembered as real people. A unique must-visit historical site.
Such a sad place to visit with wot happened 10th June 1944 but the history and place is amazing highly recommended if in the area and av a day spare as couple of hours not enough
A very clear reminder how horrible we humans can be to each other. A very well preserved time piece and a nice place to visit and picnic. Bob the American
Beautiful village, untouched reminder of what the nazis were capable of
Extremely interesting and well laid out. Highly recommend visiting the museum before exploring the village for the context of what happened where. Disabled access and lift down to museum, fair walk round the village but accessable by wheelchair/scooter. Great afternoon out
To give anything less than five stars would be criminal. Although the reason for the existence of this site was terrible, the local people have indeed created a real and true memorial to the event and to those who lost their lives. Allow plenty time, it's a big location and there is a lot to see.
If you are rightfully feeling emotional and reflective after visiting the ruined village, visit the local bakery a short walk from the museum. Excellent snacks, pastries and coffee to enjoy.
