Great food. Love their soup, tastes best when extremely hot

This shop is kind of like a fixture in Tiong Bahru. Being one of the corner shops that has been there since the 60s, I guess its Bak Kut Teh has stood the test of time. I like it that they are generous with the soup, and that the prime ribs aren't that expensive. However, I wish the soup were a bit spicier with a little more pepper. The you tiao wasn't that crispy and were somewhat soft when I had it as it's been left outside for some time. Other than that, the experience overall was good for me.
The soup was good! Peppery but not as salty as other shops. Can drink bowls of it without getting thirsty. The spread of various dishes is also good. Will be good to enjoy it during a cool day but hot and sunny days can be a challenge especially for people like me that perspire easily. Will be back again soon when weather permits!
Spend some time keeping the flies away. A tad tad too expensive for a 2 pax meal. Almost 40. The soup was so-so and I can definitely find a much nicer bak kut teh elsewhere
Not sure why this place is rated 4 stars but the bak kut teh was totally soso. The dishes below costs 33 in total, which is such a rip-off???? The pork ribs are so boney without much meat and the available whole meat pieces were really dry and tough Also, spent half the time trying to swat away the many houseflies from landing on our food so can't even eat in peace. Definitely not coming here again.
Food is good hear, especially the watercrest veggie. Fish was kind of expensive, relative to the other items on the menu. It's an old school place, I mean literally old school (down to the staff) but it has it's charm.
Often see a lot of folks eating here. Not impressed with the BKT. The ribs had a good balance of meat and fats but quite pricey at 9 a bowl.
Soup taste great, meat is great, all the other side dishes are quite good except for the price of them.
