One of the key things to remember about a school is that culturally they are all different, you have to choose a school right for your child. Originally I had sent my child to a supposedly 'Outstanding' school. She was not happy. I could see why, but I could also see why some would regard it highly: very regimented and assessment focused. This is not what I wanted for my children. After considering home-schooling, we chanced upon Iona. The patience and care from the staff is superb. The culture is caring and supportive but above all creative. My daughters (the 2nd has stared too) are thriving. The turn around of teachers is very, very low. People who work there truly believe in the school's ethos; that the child's own development comes first and they support that. All parents seem to have a similar ethos too, which regardless of labels and theories seems to be: let children grown in their own way and their own time. I can honestly say after being involved with the school for 3 years I've not read a single thing on what Stiener education is - I'm lucky to have worked in a lot of schools and completed visits in a supportive capacity to dozens (I'm a former Head)... and I've only ever seen one other school that comes close to the atmosphere and culture this one has (and that was a 22,000 a year private school) In a nut shell: It's a village school in the city. For us, it is super. Very grateful to have found it.
