My son was born a year ago and spent 53 days in the NICU at Yale. The nurses and doctors were fantastic, best of the best. My boy received personalized care around the clock and the parent accommodations were fantastic... I was allowed to come and go at any hour of the day or night, and even stay overnight if I chose not to leave him. Having a baby in the NICU instead of coming right home is an extremely difficult experience but this hospital eased the process and made it as comfortable as possible to be there while he had to be. I can’t say enough good things about the hospital staff or the support programs they offered.

Some of the doctors and nurses here are really good. Unfortunately, the bad ones in the bunch ruin things. I, as a father of a baby recently born in Yale, have experienced a lot of sexist treatment as some doctors and nurses ignore me and only speak with my wife or only show her respect. The bigger issue we experienced was with some doctors and nurses believing that our baby wasn't worth performing surgery on, including open-heart surgery, just because our child has a chromosomal abnormality. All in all, Yale has been a mixed bag, as some of the experiences here have been very positive while I feel that there is a mentality here that the baby is first the community's and secondly the mother and father's, so sometimes they are too bossy and that is really unfortunate.
