Beautiful cathedral we found accidentally. We were very suprised because we entered from the side.

It’s a beautiful church. The pale grey stonework, sculpted altar, and paintings are worth seeing. The side chapels seem newer, and less impressive than the main nave. But it’s cool inside, and grandiose, a serene relief from its rough-and-tumble surroundings.

It is a very impressive cathedral in the heart of Naples. If you like to visit cathedrals, this place is one of the best in Naples. If you are traveling for tourism purposes, they also have a tourist guide service if you would like to benefit from. Highly recommended place to see and experience.

Also known as Chiesa Cattedrale di Napoli or Duomo di Napoli, the Cathedral Santa Maria Assunta is a beautiful medieval cathedral in southern Italy that features the remains of an Early Christian basilica, many notable artworks, and the miraculous blood of San Gennaro. Also called Cattedrale di San Gennaro by some, everything from altar to organ and statues are worth a look and entirely free to visit.
