To see a museum dedicated to Phoenician ships using their actual wood planks, nails, lead or stone anchors raised from the seabed is rare. To find this set in hectares of ongoing archaeological digs with professors on hand to share their passion is truly amazing! What is also interesting is how little the amphorae carroed in these ships have changed from Phoenician to Greek to Roman times.

What a surprise when you go inside. From the outside it's a bit bland but don't let that put you off. Go in, it's beautiful, one of the nicest archeological museums I've been in for a long time. If I could give 6 stars I would.
Fascinating for anyone with an interest in ancient boat building techniques.
Great experience... Going back to Romans and Norman times... a real trip back in time.
If you go to this area, don't just go to the wineries, do yourself a favour and visit this museum as it explains the story of the city and the staff is very friendly.
