We have been using Smart Pensions for a number of years. The technology is great but more valuable to us, has been the support, from implementation to resolving issues, after the event. We are very privileged, to have been working with Elaine Phillips, who has, always been there to support us and our clients.

I had the pleasure of speaking to Adrian this morning. I have to say what a pleasure it was to speak to him. He was professional and very helpful and an asset to the Company. I am in customer services myself and know how challenging it can be at times but Adrian was a true gentleman from start to finish and provided me with all the information I needed to make the right decision for me. \Thank You\ Adrian.

I'm a pensions professional in my 60s, with personal experience of a range of pension providers. I joined my current employer, a pensions consultancy, in 2017, and was auto-enrolled into Smart Pensions. Smart Pensions' annual management charges were at the legal maximum level of 0.75% pa. For every 100 invested for 35 years, Smart Pensions' fees would take 23. I believe these charges are still in place. In my view the owners are greedy, and taking advantage of the fact that most members don't understand charges (hence the legal limit) and in any case have no choice, being auto-enrolled with the provider their employer has chosen. Compare Smart Pensions' charges with those of a Vanguard SIPP (for example). Not only were they as expensive as the law allowed, their service was dreadful. At the time they did not even make fund values available other than through an annual statement, which was several months late each year. I telephoned many times (on the employer line - they didn't answer the employee line to ask for a fun value, but it took them weeks to \calculate\ it. In fact, their service was so poor, and their deductions from members' contributions so great, that after a long period of investigation and advice from an IFA, my employer stopped using them in 2020, with all future contributions for all staff now going to a new provider. I believe their service is far better now, comparable with that of other providers. But that’s too late for me. If you are a member, I suggest that you ask your employer how much of your pension pot is being taken by Smart Pensions in charges each year.

Impossible to get through to them. Waste of time. The website is poor, I am pretty good with computers but its hard to sign up. I wish I never enrolled.
