Good parking, which costs 2 for a day. The 1.5 km path to the beach and hides has been maintained, but there were puddles and mud after so much rain. Stop on the bridge to check out birds on the ponds just before the beach - and look at the sunset. Don't want to encourage people to go, because it's quiet remoteness is part of its beauty.

One of, if not the best Nature Reserve in the area. So many birds to see, there's a great walk around the lakes passing several hides. The beach is stunning tide in or out. it's very dog friendly. If you want an off lead beach walk, go right, for the nature reserve (dogs on lead) go left.

Huge numbers of birds out on the mud flats. Check the tide tables beforehand, birds are closer when the tide is in. Can be really cold and windy in autumn/winter. Free parking for members, otherwise 2. Good paths and some steps.

Just to say, there is no car park charge for RSPB members such as myself. The RSPB car park charge for those who aren’t members of the RSPB is very fair as compared to National Trust car parks of which I’m a member as is well of which the charge for National Trust car parks can be high for non-members. But the wader spectacular is excellent.

I'm not a great birder, but this is an attractive reserve, with a circular walk from the car park, along good paths, that is well worth doing in its own right. It starts skirting a flooded gravel pit
