A heritage place right in the middle of JB city centre. Also an important temple for the Taoists in JB. The highlight of the year is their Chingay celebration where they parade their deities around the city of JB for several days. The main event will be the “God’s Night Tour” where all the deities are paraded at once on Jalan Wong Ah Fook. Roads will be closed and spectators from all walks of life will be packing the roadside to watch the processions. People working in the city centre will usually work offsite or go home early, to avoid congestions or not being able to commute home.

It's one of the oldest Chinese temples in Johor. It seems to be a nice place, especially for those in Buddhism.

Nothing much to see here but still worth visiting. A quick visit. Was expecting the place to be bigger. You can get some joss sticks to the left of the temple and use it for prayers. Free entrance. Joss sticks are also free of charge.

Visited back in March before the MCO and lockdown. This is one of the oldest religious buildings in Johor Bahru and the oldest Chinese temple. The front of the building is beautifully decorated with cute paintings of 12 animals of the Chinese Zodiac. The front entrance is painted in bold red and contrasts beautifully against the predominantly white background of the front wall. The temple interestingly serves all the main dialectal Chinese groups of the city. So it’s not a surprise that the temple has a mixture of shrines for Buddhism, Taoism and other Chinese deities. The Chinese deity Yuan Tian Shang Di is most prominent in the temple as the shrine is in the main central building while there is a subsidiary building for the Goddess of Mercy.
