It's been the best option for my daughter since kindergarten 2 years ago.... Very thankful for this school

A residential (also serving non-residential) state school for students with hearing problems, up through high school. An institution supporting American Sign Language. Jacksonville has a large deaf community outside of the lSD community, which makes local businesses and other community resources more deafness-sensitive and helpful than might be the case in other small towns. For example, open- captioned movie screenings are common in movie theatres for current-run movies on weekends when older students leave campus.

Great school and staff

It is half good and half bad. Most of high school teachers are good teachers but some teachers’ attitude are AWFUL. High school principals are very nice, but when the staffs disrespects me first and I disrespected them back, I was in big trouble and staffs didn’t!!! What the hell. When I have a job at nursery school for Students Work Experience class, I left earlier because I finished all of duties, but my teacher and boss yelled at me because I left 5 to 10 minutes earlier. Dorms life are sooooo brutal and unfair because boys and girls have to be separated. Also the dorm parents are ignoring the first amendment. It is all of people who have a right to freedom. They must looking at students to make sure they are okay, not just looking at them all time. Also, a lot of students dropped out of ISD a while ago because of cued. This is DEAF INSTITUTE AND YOU MUSTN’T CUED. Lot of elementary and middle school teachers are cued. It’s stupid school.
