Parent brings kids into a Cancer center coughing continually?! Staff doesn’t say anything. I don’t think people realize that people with Cancer have SUPPRESSED IMMUNE SYSTEMS! It would be nice next time if the staff here asked the people to have the children wait with someone outside, or have the kids wear masks. This is life or death for some of us.

I have been coming to the Eugie office for more than three years now. I have currently just started my 4th round of chemo. Nothing is perfect in this world but I can say that I feel at home at this office. The staff is truly compassionate and caring. Dr. Mamani is thoughtful and always answers all of my questions! I can’t imagine how difficult it is to answer things like how long do you think I will live! The chemo nurses are so loving and I consider them my extended family. Even the other patients are supportive and we actually have a good time if we’re up to goofing around! I certainly don’t know what other oncologist offices are like but I feel like I am in good hands and I have surpassed the time I was given as an average life expectancy for my cancer. There have been a couple of times that I wasn’t thrilled with something but I speak up and express myself. They have made every effort to accommodate me and correct what I have perceived as an error or mistake and correct it!

It’s not precisely easy to find a good care provider as a trans person, and Palo Verde cancer center doesn’t make it any easier. My partner called to set up an appointment with them, and as soon as he explained that I was trans, the person setting the appointment became combative and extremely rude. When asked about whether they could call out a preferred name instead of what was listed on the insurance, they asked if calling out “deadname aka preferred name” would be alright, and refused to listen when my partner told them it wasn’t. It’s apparently too much to expect a little bit of respect from medical professionals these days. I would suggest avoiding this practice if you are a member of the lgb(and especially)t community. UPDATE: The employee that we spoke to yesterday is now trying to claim she had never even spoken to us. This practice seems to me to be built on a two tiered care system, and gaslighting patients. I would never trust my care to a practice that is run this way, and I would advise EVERYONE to avoid them.
