one of the most popular shrine in Kyoto for foreign and domestic tourist perhaps. It was very magnificent and majestic. The fox statues all around the temple is a sight to behold. The shrine and its ground are already huge, and crowded of course (even in low season), but the larger part, the part that everyone awaits for lies behind the shrine. Yes, the thousands torii gates. On the foot of the mountain, is where most of the gates are located and it makes for a very picturesque and thematic location. This is where most of the crowds would be, so it will be hard to take a photo of yourself without interruption as everyone also seeks the moment. After that, where the fun part comes in, to hike, or not to hike? Be prepared, wear a comfortable walking/hiking shoes if you decides to hike, since it is quite the trip and the steps is as steep as they come. My suggestion is to hike only up to the conjunction where you could get a clear sky view of Kyoto, unless you're an explorer, since there is no more panoramic view on the summit.

Not overrated at all! Definitely recommend coming here and just enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. If you would like a photo with the tori gates, make sure to go further up the path, as there will be less people there and you can get a good picture! Note: Visited prior to Covid, so things may be different.

One of the most -if not the most- popular shrine in Kyoto for foreign and domestic tourist perhaps. Maybe in Japan altogether, as I see the famous shrine's senbontorii in almost all video promoting Japan tourism. Well for me, the shrine definitely lived up to its reputation. I get off at JR inari station for work everyday. I love being able to see this shrine on my way to work. It’s a really great place to explore and the views from the top of the mountain are spectacular.

It is a Japanese temple that you need to walk a lot! An hour or more, for those with children like me, they sell Japanese lucky charms, free parking and a temple is free admission! However it was packed, I got 500 parking! Next to the jinja! There is a typical Japanese food market! This Manju with strawberry and this takoyaki is delicious! I couldn't try other foods! There was too much ice cream! And souvenir shops! Have a good trip! I recommend!
