The museum is a great alternative to all the artistic and religious history. The scientific breakthroughs and contraptions throughout and beyond the Renaissance period are so interesting, and the app is really nice as a free audio guide. A star is lost because it is a bit pricey and the app only covers about 10% of items and sometimes they seemed to be picked a bit arbitrarily.

Good museum to bring young children.
This is a very nice, but small museum. It is for the scientist, physicist, engineer, or someone who plans to be one of those. The museum also touches on chemistry and biology. This is a great interactive museum IF YOU DOWNLOAD THE APP. I highly recommend you download it and find the pieces. This is great for younger students and teenagers to use their phone and dive into the vast aspects the app has to offer. There are limited featured items, but it will keep you busy. Broken down into small aspects. More museums should follow this model with the app as support. Very good value for the cost of the visit.
The most famous attraction is the display that includes 2 of Galileo's telescopes along with the telescope objective lens used when he discovered Jupiter's moons, enshrined in an elegant frame. But the museum has so many well-preserved scientific and industrial instruments dating to the 1600s that it is a must see for anyone interested in astronomy or science. Never crowded, you can have your fill in an hour.
A really underrated museum in Florence. They have models of instruments from all over Europe. It was fascinating to see how they experimented/demonstrated basic scientific principles. A must visit if you are interested in history of science.
