In its present form, Damen Shiprepair Dunkerque (DSDu) emerged in 1987, as the result of more than a century of shipbuilding and ship repair activity in Dunkirk. The shipyard was created in 1968 and in 1977 graving dock 6 was constructed. In 1978, les Ateliers Français de l’Ouest was founded. In 1985 the company name changed to Ateliers Réunis du Nord et de l’Ouest (ARNO). ARNO Dunkerque shipyard was created in 1987, with the support of the Nord Pas de Calais region. DSDu became part of Damen Shipyards Group in 2012, and is currently the only major ship repair yard on the north-eastern coast of France. It is now the only yard undertaking ship repairs and conversions in the harbour of Dunkirk (the third largest port in France).

Very good shipyard, the workforce and quality are good. The mentality and co-operation have improved significantly since 2013. We have been involved with the yard both as client for major life time extension project as well as contractor for project preparations which where both successfull in terms of quality, value, co-operation and client care.
