I don't normally shop at Tesco and this experience has certainly made me never want to go there again. There was a small queue to get in the Security guard asked my daughter her age - she is 13 - then proceeded to tell her she shouldn't be shopping with anyone. I told him she is my daughter - he proceeded to tell my daughter she should shop alone unless she needs a carer - he would NOT make eye contact with me at all and aimed all his comments at my daughter. Very inappropriate and weird to say the least. The upshot was he would not let me enter the shop with my daughter and said if we went in and we were seen near each other he would chuck us out. I went in and straight to customer service to complain - the lady there was lovely and called a manager who turned up immediately had a word with the guard and got my daughter in. Absolutely ridiculous in these times. Incidentally while my daughter waited for me she heard him threaten a couple who entered the shop with being thrown out if they were seen together. Needless to say I am making an official written complaint to Tesco head office to educate security staff on the covid rules and regulations.
