Can be an absolute nightmare to use this place they treat lorry driver's with total disdain at times though there are some exceptionally friendly staff like anywhere it totally depends on who you get at the check in. I've arrived here at 12.00 o'clock pm and haven't boarded a ferry until 04.00 the next morning also being told it may be 10.00 o'clock the next morning. As usual it's the lorry driver suffering unfortunately it doesn't seem that DFDS cares that much about our problems. The ferry itself is a much more pleasant affair it's comfortable, Food is ok and well cooked Toilet facilities could and should be a little better as at times not all toilets will be open. Again some of the staff are very pleasant and polite while some can and are very rude and arrogant to customers especially if they don't speak English, I find this astonishing in this day and age and find it leaves a poor taste in my mouth especially as they have to be coming in contact with many different nationalities daily.

Peaceful place with no hastle for visa, you have to sit and relax and they will call your name. Place is very clean and humble staff
Great food on board just wish showers stayed on more than 2 seconds and have hot water coming out of then instead of cold or luke warm
Excellent ferry service. First class breakfast. Very polite and organised staff. I will definitely use again. First time with DFDS and have to say better VFM than P&O.
You can take a break in the terminal, a great advantage for us with the trucks, on the boat a bit cold, in the showers the water is not so hot not having the possibility to adjust it. The food at canteen level, all the food is put in a pile mixed in a plate like a pig. Halfway through, the one who cleans the shower comes and takes you out of the shower and says that he has to clean. NOTE 6

We have always found this departure point quick. With the 2020 pandemic there was nobody travelling so no waiting in a queue. If you have never been here, note that there are five checks. DFDS checkin, then French passport control, then British passport control, where (in 2020) they check you have filled in your public health passenger location form. Then french customs check, before the final British customs check that you are carrying no illegal immigrants. All the officials were helpful and polite, and spoke English.
We've been using the DFDS Dunkirk service for the last 3 years and on the whole can't fault them. We wouldn't dream of going back to the Dover-Calais route now. Good prices and the midnight ferry is usually nice and quiet to get a bit of a kip. The ferries are always clean and well kept. Loading and unloading is quick and efficient. My only gripe is the cost of the fairly average coffee on board, but then I guess it's the same whenever there's a captive market.
