Total Thieves! We took a family heirloom watch and albert chain to one of their 'valuation days' . The lady didn't have any scales with her (!!??) so she said she would hold onto the piece & let us know. When collecting the item, the chain had been switched for something much lighter. Refused to believe us. Filthy magpies. We should have involved the police.

Firstly it needs saying that the floor staff at Lawrances are superb, helpful and polite. That leaves Lawrances ‘’experts’’, in this regard you could be forgiven for thinking Lawrances have a very different definition of what the term ‘’expert’’ means to what the rest of us think it means. I’d recommend doing as much research as is possible yourself and take it with you unless you enjoy frustration and watching a so called ‘’expert’’ scratch their heads and look bemused. Even when armed with your own research and expertise you still run the risk of being insulted when their ‘’expert’’ finds it easier to dismiss your genuine and documented item as a fake as this seems to be the quick answer to cover their head scratching and bemusement. You could be forgiven for thinking that Lawrances employ their ‘’experts’’ based more on their accent than their actual expertise in any given field. Trying to deal with Lawrances can be a thoroughly unpleasant experience, use them if you wish however that are far more professional auction houses that will treat you as a valued customer not as a idiot unworthy even of their time.
