Maria is awesome. A hairtist (hair artist!) A little more expensive, but worth it. And you get a free Dum Dum with every cut. Go see her, but save the Root Beer ones for me!

I've been getting my hair cut by Maria for over a year. I was so sick and tired of being disappointed with bad haircuts that I decided to try this place out and spend the extra money to see if it was worth it. I'll never turn back. She is absolutely amazing and I recommend everyone to come here. If the price doesn't bother you, you won't be disappointed.
I have been going to Zen for a few months since I have lived in Chicago and it has been great! Maria does an excellent job of understanding what you are looking for and giving you a great, professional haircut. The salon also has a comfortable and relaxing feel to it.
Maria and her staff have always been very professional and personable attending to my needs and giving me the best quality for the price point. I've been going here for my haircuts since 2008. I moved to Hyde Park in 2015 and yet will still take the Blue Line or bike, or drive to Logan Square for a signature cut. La Strada next door and Bang Bang Pie Shop a quarter block away are just two more reasons to go and get your hair cut as well as have a late lunch or early/late dinner.
