We traveled from Caernarfon to Beddgelert return with the packed lunch and took our 3 year old granddaughter. The trip is very steady in a good way and was stimulating enough to keep our granddaughter entertained. Impressive train and the carriage was lovely. The packed lunch was exceptionally better than expected and the facilities at both stations were clean and tidy. Staff helpful and friendly. Really good day out.

The Welsh Highland Railway network from Caernarfon and Porthmadog is a fantastic way to travel and see the beautiful countryside of Wales as the trains take you slowly through such spectacular scenery. It is of course much better if you are lucky enough to have have some decent weather as we did as you see so much more. The old steam trains are well maintained and cared as well are the stations you stop at it pass through. It was a day we will always remember as we took a lot of photographs as the train trundled along.
Always a great ride. Very friendly and helpful staff, a huge number are volunteers. Price increase from last year but still worth every penny.
Fantastic scenery, a slow but pleasant ride between Porthmadog and Carnarfon. Although a bit more expensive a trip in the observation car enhances the experience. Approx 2 1/2 hours each way, there is even on board catering (light menu only) with reasonable prices.
Best train journey we've been on some if the best scenery
