The combination of splendid Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine and Venetian monuments with the beauty of forests, sea, lake and mountain make the Albanian national park of Butrint a magical and unique archaeological site in the Mediterranean. Butrint is an open-air museum where you see traces of all Mediterranean civilizations: Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Venetian and Ottoman. Public buses depart from Saranda every hour from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. from outside the ZIT Information Center and return from Butrint every hour. Butrint's opening hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please note that midday is the busiest time. Also, if you visit during the summer, it can also be very hot, so early morning or late afternoon is recommended.

Amazing historical place. A must visit! We've learned a lot of surprising facts about Sarandë's history.
Marvellous must-visit place. Definitely recommend to visit. Don't forget to take a bottle of drinking water (cafe on the territory is closed as of 10.07.2020).
What Butrint offers today is a remarkable journey through the ages of history, which dates back to 8th century B.C. Great place to visit with kids, wonderful location, great view from above, beautiful and rare species of trees, an important history lesson for children and adults.
The park and the ruins are absolutely gorgeous. Well preserved. The staff is helpful and facilities available. Absolutely worth seeing! A gem of culture!

Oasis of ancient peace! Hope they will not destroy it ...
This is one of the most ancient site and city in Albania. Butrint not only offers you a time travel throughout history but also has a beautiful forest which offers shade and fresh breeze in the heat of the day! Guides are available in most European languages as well local tour guides to walk you through the ancient city. Staff very friendly and there is a souvenirs market as well. Highly recommend it!
