Nice free museum run by volunteers with lots of knowledge about the history of Fort Hamilton and the United States. The volunteers are friendly and will answer whatever questions you have as they guide you through the museum. You must be aware that it is on an active military installation and you must have ID to get on the base. Foreign Nationals interested in visiting should call ahead to ascertain what they need in terms of ID to get on base.

I am EU citizen, andvI couldn't visit museum only with ID. You need to have passport there with you, so old school. I wasted my time going there.

I am not recommending this place. They just close down without notice so even you travel here for a long time but it is not guaranteed you can get in. They do not even give any proper reason: Just saying \They are doing something.
