Speaking from experience. It's not a horrible place it can be hard and stressful living there for a long period of time. The big and main problem is that there is no real help to move residents on (i really hope this changes). Resident's give up and give into hostel life and it's not the normal life to live. Personally i felt totally stuck like prison stuck living in an expensive okay hotel room with no help and guidance to move forward. I did all the work to find a place to live eventually after a long time without there help. Staff are fair and nice towards residents and i believe they mean well for there residents too, a few staff members in particular have massive genuine hearts and really care to help others in Michael house as much as they are able to. As for my support worker \Reasonn\ what a joke an-untrained, un-dedicated support worker not fit for the job Great at handing out star charts and collecting rent. This is why vulnerable hostel residents are not able to get the help they need to move forward but instead go backwards. If i was to mention this in the hostel i would have had a 28day notice to quit and put me in my place sadly so speaking up is not an option when your threatened with homelessness. No support worker should be able to put you in a box because of your living position but this is what happens and happens in Michael house. CONCLUSION. Michael House hostel is just a business out to make it's money, as businesses do. If your trying to get off the streets and kick a drug habit or maybe a gambling addiction Michael house is a great first step to start and the hostel does help well in that area and supplies a comfortable warm roof over your head at the same time. Apart from that say your girlfriend has kicked you out because of a relationship breakdown do NOT start your journey looking for a place at this hostel try other options and routes if possible and maybe other hostels else were.

I've visited here many times over the years to assist with website and IT support. The atmosphere is always friendly and many of the residents I've met genuinely seem happy to be there. The rapport between the staff and residents is very good.

Has to be the most homely hostel in Dorset, maybe even further afield. From the moment of entering the house there's almost a family feeling. Residents socializing, staff laughing and joking with them but always on hand for more serious matters. You just know straight away, residents are cared for. And the garden is a piece of paradise, full of flowers, birds in residence in hand made bird boxes, butterflies flitting around, a pond teeming with life, I could go on. Plus plenty of activities for the residents to be involved in. Cooking, photography, bike restoring, outings. This wonderful haven is the first step for many back from a dark past, which many thought they'd never be released. And what a terrific first step it is

A very Horrible place managed by a horrible with no mercy staff, They leagalise the illeagal and they illeagal the leagal, They are working together to hide the wrong horrible things that they do to the tenants in order not lose their jobs and the funds they are receiving as a charity which I'm quite sure that all the gang (Staff) are making a huge fortune out of it and I'm very responsible about what I'm saying as I worked for charities Before as well as I used to rais funds for charities and None Governmental Organisation but on a very high level and I know how the charity staff can abuse this that's why they accept for a very sick man to become homeless in order not to sacrafice their positions and the funds they are stealing in a leagal way, God damn that place with all its staff members.
