I was seen here in the endoscopy unit as an NHS patient during Covid. Could not have been treated any better throughout my time in the hospital and my initial consultation. No distinction made between myself and any paying patients. The staff on the unit were lovely.
I wanted to see a dermatologist urgently in order to renew my treatment for acne so I decided to avoid long waiting time with NHS and go privately. And that appears to be an absolute waste of money and time. Firstly, I had a consultation appointment with a dermatologist. Came to the clinic, waited for good 2 hours and no one called my name, then decided to ask the reception what was going on. A receptionist told me that my name wasn’t even on the doctor’s list today but the doctor finally managed to see me after another 15-20min. Was waiting for my blood test appointment letter for 2 weeks until it finally arrived. Did the test and few days later received another letter saying that I have a telephone appointment with the doctor in 2 weeks time. I patiently waited for the day and the exact time to receive a call from the doctor at 14:45. There was no call. I called the reception at around 16:30 to ask why no one called me. They told me that the doctor was only working in the morning on that day so there’s no chance I could have received any call from him at 14:45. Gave me the number of his secretary. Called the secretary who was already out of office as well since she was in only in the morning. The next day called the secretary and she was not in again. Decided to call the reception. A woman offered me again to give a number and email of the secretary who’s not in today because I have just tried to contact her. Basically no help at all. In the end she booked me in for a face to face appointment with the doctor in another 2 weeks time. More than 6 weeks have passed and there is barely any progress for my treatment. Now you think if it’s worth paying money for private hospital stating how much it is better and quicker to take care of your health using their services compared to NHS. Personally, I don’t see any difference, just paying money for nothing really.
