The Neptunbrunnen is named for the Roman god of the Oceans, Neptune. The god forms the centrepiece of the fountain sitting on a giant clam shell and depicted in all his might as he is escorted from the seas by creatures of the seas, both real and mythical. Around Neptune are sea creatures announcing the arrival of the god of the sea by spraying water from their mouths towards the centre of the fountain. Around the fountain are four female personifications of the four great rivers of the then Prussia, the Elbe, the Rhine, the Vistula, and the Oder. The fountain is truly magnificent to behold and worth seeing as it’s within the main tourist circuit.

İts one of the most popular squares of Berlin with plenty main attractions near by including an Amazing Christmas Market during the Christmas period. The market was fantastic which we visited twice.. The Food was great with plenty options for everyone.. The Music was nice, it was crowded but the area was quite big. there was an ice ring in the middle and a big wheel to see Berlin from above.. transportation was very easy as it was walking distance from Alexander platz as well as trams and busses near by..
