Newcastle upon Tyne

I won't give it a high rating but it does do quite well. Limited parking - bus or walk to it. A regular service for The Metro - a major city transport scheme which uses lightweight electric trains to transport huge amounts of people from the suburbs and into two city centers - Newcastle upon Tyne and Sunderland. Easy payment systems, lots and lots of options as well as integrated tickets to use buses as well as The Metro. The system isn't managed well (I've had some seriously sh*tty experiences with the operating company..) and you will not see staff at stations. Cleaners do clean but it only takes one train user to litter and it stays there till the next day. That's really not good at all. So Benton Station? Old, historic and sited within a more affluent area. Old buildings but not all put to use (take the hint operators!). Lots of trees, within a hilly area too so disabled might want to choose another location to catch a train.

A nice, leafy suburban station with the main buildings dating back to 1871 still extant, although some of the finer details sadly disappeared when this section of line was converted for use by the Tyne and Wear Metro in the late 1970s. A considerable improvement was made in 2011 with the provision of a new footbridge incorporating lifts on both platforms, though it has to be said this is somewhat ugly and overbearing by comparison with the smaller and rather attractive cast iron structure it replaced.
Metro unreliable, staff non-existent, not enough seating areas or rain sheltered areas. Only use metro due to necessity but it is in dire need of a upgrade to the infrastructure and a change to management at the top as it is not ran well at all.
Pretty station with a countryside feel. Pretty safe at night too
