The monks founded Furness Abbey in 1127 and although this is a ruined site there are high walls and arches. The general layout of the abbey and church can be recognised and appreciated. Good gift shop onsite and also toilets. Carpark is free.

A beautiful, romantic ruin in the vale of nightshade. We were the only visitors to the flooded site just after torrential rain. So very atmospheric and gave a real sense of the solitude and hardships faced by the medieval monks.
Great place if one fancy a long drive. Took me 5 hours to get there from London. Worth it. Great escape to country side.
Thoroughly enjoyable visit to the delightful Furness Abbey. Attraction that's definitely got more than meets the eye. Furness Abbey is very charming and exquisite. Truly a pleasure to observe and experience. Glad to add this to the ticked off list. Another one I could recommend.
Fabulous place, very impressed by the knowledge of the English Heritage team member working on the desk. Lots of nice walks in the areas around too. Great day out for the whole family.
