Welcoming homestyle Japanese food supervised by Cap! Just what is needed after a day out in the powdery slopes of Hirafu. Have been coming here for years. It’s consistently good. Used to be a local haunt known just by the seasonal n locals but now it seems everyone knows about it. Bookings are a must especially during ski season.

Super small and cosy restaurant - reservation recommended as I saw people being turned away without reservarion. Seafood was fresh, they oysters and sashimi were great! My favourite was grilled kinki fish which was seasoned and cooked really well.
Excellent simple japanese food. Salad, sashimi, fried prawn and fried chicken are standouts.
Make sure you make reservations in advance! Either call or ask the concierge to help before you show up in the area. They book up quickly. Make sure you ask for the regular chairs if you don’t want to sit on the tatami. Highlights: hokke (grilled mackerel),oden stew (get the 6 combo), and oyster. Sashimi prices were reasonable, except for the king crab. I fell for it and while it was good, I didn’t think it was worth 85k yen (half the cost of our meal!).
Food is good and it’s a cozy tiny place. Very Japanese style. Not as cheap as we thought but oyster is worth of trying
